The Town of Riga’s Planning Board has an opening available for a Planning Board alternate member. The alternate member fills in for regular Planning Board members who are unable to attend a Planning Board meeting. Procedures for development
With development increasing at an accelerated pace, it has become necessary to set up certain guidelines to assure that such development proceeds in an orderly but expeditious manner. To implement the procedures required by law and good planning, the town has developed a sequence of procedures for development in the Town of Riga. The Planning Board of Riga oversees this process.
Developers shall contact the Planning Board Secretary for information and direction relating to subdivision design, application for hearings and related fees.
- Development of Land
Any proposed building site must go through the Planning Board for approval.
- Subdivision of Land
The owner of any parcel of land proposing to divide or sell off a part or portion of said land must first go through formal subdivision review.
- Special Use Permit
The purpose of special use approval is to allow the proper integration into the community of uses which may be suitable only on certain conditions and at appropriate locations. Special Uses are subject to site plan approval
