Notification Procedures:
Residents wishing to register any questions or comments regarding the operation of the Mill Seat Landfill may call (24 hours/day) 494-3000. A record of all calls is maintained and ensures that all the information received from a resident is recorded exactly as it is presented.  The number to call (24 hours/day) is: 494-3000.

Open House:
Educational displays, games, landfill tours and food are provided at an annual open house which is held on the last Thursday of July.  Watch for announcements and signs throughout the community.

Proposed Mill Seat Landfill Expansion:
Monroe County is seeking a Permit Modification from the NYSDEC to construct and operate a landfill expansion and support features.  In anticipation of the current Landfill reaching its capacity in 2018, the County has begun the environmental review and permitting process.

  • Leachate Storage: 1.5 to 2 million-gallon capacity in glass-lined, above ground storage tanks
  • Construction Costs: $35 million for Stages I and II (not including design, testing, land acquisition and supervision).
