As part of the Host Community Agreements, Monroe County and Waste Management provide revenue sharing and other community benefits.  A summary of these benefits is provided below.

● Estimated $2 million annual revenue to the Town of Riga resulting in one of the lowest Town tax rates(zero) in Monroe County, which equates to a savings of as much as approximately $975 for  a homeowner with a home assessed at $150,000.

● Free waste collection and recycling services Town of Riga residents  (estimated at $356,000 annually or   approximately $300/year/household)

● Property Protection Plan in area surrounding the landfill

TOWN OF BERGEN BENEFITS

● Revenue sharing to the Town of Bergen ($0.10/ton is provided to the Town of Bergen)

● Annual monetary payments to Bergen Fire Department (approx. $8,000) and Byron-Bergen Schools   (approx. $80,000)

CAPITAL PROJECTS COMPLETED

● Completion of a $12 million water main capital improvement project within the Town of Riga and   servicing the Town of Bergen

● Completion of a wastewater pump station/sewer main that allowed for the decommissioning  of   the Churchville wastewater treatment facility eliminating the need for expensive upgrades   and eliminating a pollution point-source to Black Creek

● Completion of sewer force main eliminating the need to truck landfill leachate to VanLare Wastewater   Treatment Facility

● Landfill Gas to Energy Facility produces 6.4 MW of green energy to the power grid (enough to power 6,000 homes) and provides revenue to the Town of Riga,   Waste Management and Monroe County

● Wildlife Habitat CouncilSM Wildlife at WorkSM certification for Mill Seat Landfill (www.wildlifehc.org)

● Mill Seat Landfill’s Annual Open House which showcases our local communities’ services while   educating the public about landfill operations in a fun and engaging environment

● Mill Seat Landfill Scout Day educating our youth about the importance of landfill operations and   ways to minimize waste in their daily lives
